Not exactly the type of project I was planning on undertaking, but necessary and exciting all the same.
The (nearly devastating) bunk bed nightmare of a girlfriend prompted our debunking. (Praise God, He is good!) Little Mister now has an even bigger Big Boy bed. And Little Miss is thinking thoughts of draping canopies of gauze- Princess Style - to fill the newly vacant air above her bed.
While I never worried about the safety of the beds...blissful ignorance to be sure...it feels right to have two big kid rooms. Big kid beds. No worries. Now every playing surface is 2 1/2 feet aff (above finished floor - shout out to the chapter on hold) or lower. As long as no one is playing on top of a dresser. Hmmmm. Something new to worry about, I suppose. Perhaps today will be one of anchoring all furnishings.

I've been bitten
I have been bitten by the crafting bug. Little rascal. I have got to figure out something to pour this new energy into...before I start tearing down wallpaper or some other expensive project. I need something small...something cheap...something fun, and quick, and FUN!
I've enjoyed a little taste of Spring, but have been made aware of the weekend's forecast. Winter, Winter, and more Winter. At least until the following weekend.
I'm not sure how safe my pocketbook will be if I'm cooped up with all this creative energy. This could be a very fun weekend.

Spring is in the air
This week has been a respite for my soul. Spring's light is shining at the end of Winter's tunnel. I have begun mentally planting and positioning new additions to my gardens. My personal archive of Martha Stewart Living catalogs have been dangerously inspirational.
I know that I want to incorporate vegetables and herbs into the floral schematic somehow or another. I'm trying to visualize attractive rabbit and squirrel barriers. I find myself daydreaming through naptime.
It's nearly time to plant starters indoors...but what will those starters be?

It's the simple things
I've been so enjoying our quiet days. It is so amazing how much joy the small things in life can bring. Coffee with a friend, a good phone conversation, watching my children play.
The other day, little miss was dancing, while her brother was a few feet away playing with his trains. Her favorite song came on, and he stood up, walked over to her, took her hands and said, "I'm the prince." He danced her in circles and when the song was over, he kissed her hand, and went back to playing with his trains. It was such a sweet and innocent sight to behold. Such a loving act from a little brother.
Chivalry lives at our house.

Sisters, sisters...
I'm so glad I have sisters.
It's so great to have someone to just ~be~ with. No need to fill the time with a lot of extra stuff. Just enjoying the day.
And! There's something special about playing with cousins. All the fun of friendship with an element of sibling-esque rivlary. Wonderful. Such a great dynamic. I wish we could enjoy them more often.
Thank you, Heather, for making the drive. We had so much fun!

A day in the life
Lunches with Daddy, check. Coffee and Play at "the Thomas store," check, check.
Today, we will venture to the library, a wonderful structure...a Carnegie Library, thoughtfully placed on the banks of a small lake. A fireplace, comfy chairs, and a fantastic view encourage many a reader to linger...although none of those readers have two children in tow. So while I've been beckoned, I've yet to enjoy that cozy reading corner. I have, however, had every opportunity to utilize the fire engine benches and the puppet show theater. (Which I am sure are far superior to the fireplace-comfy chairs-view, anyhow.)
In the past few days, I have had the distinct pleasure of watching my kids imaginations grow. We have amassed a small metropolis with paper inhabitants. Paper moms, dads, sisters, brothers, babies, cats, dogs, furniture and a dinosaur. I never knew the fun one could have with a package of construction paper and a scissor!
Off to enjoy another day. Learning, exploring, imagining, creating, playing, goofing, snuggling..this is bliss!

Filling free time
Our schedule is opening up for a few days, and I am trying to come up with creative ways to fill our free time. Hmmmmmm......I'm thinking several lunches with Daddy, coffee and play at "the Thomas Store," a few visits to the library, and maybe a day or two spent entirely in pajamas.
Ahhhhhhh, sweet freedom.

Sunday, Sunday....
Another glorious winter day. We awakened to a fresh blanket of white...something we haven't seen much of this year. It's the kind of morning that begs you to sit awhile longer at the window, coffee in hand, pondering the course of the day.
Now at the close of the day, I sit and reflect upon another day gone by. Why does it pass so quickly? Ah, to make time stand still.
It seems so cliche, but time really does fly when you're having fun. I never understood that so clearly until I had children.
Off to kiss them once more. Sweet dreams.
